My Father, John Treen is turning 80 on June 2. He is a HUGE Red Green Fan, to the point that he had signs made for our cottages: "Possum Lodge I" and "Possum Lodge II". The sign is on his shed now that his days of cottaging are behind him.
He proudly sports the Red Green gear at family occasions such as the one above from a few Christmases ago. I will not include the picture of his headstone but trust me in saying, it literally states "Duct Tape, Eh?!"; his personally chosen phrase to be remembered by! He doesn't believe in taking life too seriously and does believe in the power of duct tape...and laughter!
He is a retired Public School teacher who has also been a Foster Parent to over 50 teenage boys through the CAS and White Rabbit agencies. He has a lengthy record of volunteerism, and he continues to volunteer on such things as the Sir Allan MacNab Circle, the VON Teletouch Friendly Outreach, and as a teacher in a class for challenging teens. He is an avid gardener, always seeking to expand his knowledge of the natural eco system, most recently by becoming the proud keeper of 2 bee hives in his garden.
Born and raised in (Westdale) Hamilton, I heard him often proudly brag as I grew up that it was awesome one of the best shows on TV had major Hamilton roots as well. I also remember growing up hearing his unmistakable laugh nearly constantly through each episode and I feel like Red Green is a part of me from all the laughs we have had while he references the Red Green philosophies while facing life's challenges - especially when repairing things at the cottage!!!
