I’ve lived in Thunder Bay for most of my life, and all that time I’ve been experimenting and re-inventing the wheel and generally ignoring advice. As a kid, my nickname was Kookey for some reason. I had wires running from under the woodstep outside that use to sag a bit and when someone like my sister stepped on it, the nails would make contact and send voltage from batteries up to my bedroom where the power would spin a little electric race car motor o it would make a ringing noise and let me know when she was sneaking in. I wanted to listen into my sisters conversations with her friends so I ran some blasting wire up to my room from the telephone relay on the basement. I did not have a phone so I hooked the wires right into an old amplifier and when she got on the phone I would turn on the amp and man I had a speakerphone before they ever were invented.
